Maria has worked for the Legal Department of Emporiki Bank (formerly a Member of Credit Agricole Group) and ALPHA BANK S.A.. Throughout her involvement with the Corporate and Investment Banking Legal Division of the abovementioned banks, she has acquired considerable knowledge in a wide range of legal fields such as Commercial law (Corporate, Banking & Bankruptcy Law), Business law and Civil law, while she has specialized in the field of Banking law as applies particularly in the area of Large Corporate transactions thereof (including the Shipping sector). Therefore, she had the opportunity to deal with interesting legal matters, such as the legalization of all types of companies (including foreign entities and off shore companies), SPAs, product and services contracts, corporate financing agreements, bond loans, syndicated loans,Trade Finance (letters of guarantee, counter guarantees, standby letters of credit), Project Finance agreements and Real Estate agreements, Compliance reports (including information in the frame of FATCA-Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act).
Her professional experience involves among others, the drafting of legal opinions on the foregoing fields of interest, as well as drafting and/or localizing and/or amending national and international commercial agreements. Besides, as a practitioner in a bank with an international presence, seeking advice on legal matters with both local and European facets, she has acquired considerable knowledge of the European regulatory framework in various respects, while she also exercised her research skills on European regulations and directives governing the areas each time under consideration.
She has also workedin the field of insolvency law. During that time she had the opportunity to face several legal matters in civil, criminal and insolvency law, with everyday presence in courts, enforcing her skills in litigation level.
